Every once in a while Advent and Christmas throw us for a calendar kerfuffle. That's right - a kerfuffle (what a great word, right?).
Let me explain. The season of Advent lasts for four Sundays each year. This year, according to the calendar, the fourth Sunday in Advent happens to simultaneously be Christmas Eve.
I don't know about you, but I think being immersed in the Advent season for four solid weeks is important - theologically and, especially, spiritually. I find spiritual nourishment and rest in the season of Advent. The waiting and expectation, the lament, the silence and hope help me experience the mystery of what God is doing in and through Mary, Joseph, Zechariah and Sarah, the shepherds and others. Advent is a holy time meant to draw us in closer to God.
So that we may receive the fulness of the gifts this Advent season brings, we will begin our Advent journey on Sunday, November 26th. Join us for worship at 9:30am in-person or online.
