I have written about this spiritual practice before, and in some ways, it is too big a topic for a short reminder in the bulletin. But I will keep it simple. Meditate.
This is a foundational practice and one that moves us from our busy minds to the quiet of our soul. It makes room for God.
Just sit still in an erect, but not stiff position. Feel your feet on the floor and your seat in the chair. Take a few breaths deep within your belly, letting the exhale gradually be longer than the inhale. You will have thoughts, but just let them pass on. Return to being aware of your breath. Set a timer for 5 minutes to start. Set a goal of 20 minutes for somewhere down the line. If you feel antsy, breathe. Focus on the breath pushing your belly out and then relaxing. There is never a bad meditation. If you sit, with the intention on meditating on your deeper self, that is enough. No judgment. Be kind. But aim to sit still on a regular basis. First thing in the morning will be best. I bless you if you take this and begin to practice. Then it becomes a blessing in itself.
